Uttar Pradesh lifts weekend curbs; no lockdown anymore on Sundays too

The Uttar Pradesh administration on Tuesday (September 8) announced that no curbs will be imposed in the state on the weekends anymore. The decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

A lockdown was being enforced on every Saturday and Sunday across the state for the last couple of months in order to check the spread of COVID-19. However, the Uttar Pradesh government last week exempted Saturdays from any sort of restrictions, bringing down the curbs to Sundays only. And now, even the Sunday restrictions have been revoked.

While addressing his team, CM Yogi Adityanath stressed on the importance of educating the general public about the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic and making them aware of all the necessary precautions needed to prevent the contraction of the fatal disease.

UP’s COVID-19 tally currently stands at over 2.7 lakh, including more than 2 lakh recoveries and close to 4,000 deaths.
