Ranveer Singh’s Simmba trailer is neither good nor bad

Producer Karan Johar and director Rohit Shetty tried to create a lot of hype for their maiden collaboration Simmba and were very much successful in doing so. As a result, everybody was eagerly looking forward to the trailer of the Ranveer Singh starrer and had high hopes from it. And now, when the Simmba trailer is finally out, all we can say is that it is neither very impressive nor extremely disappointing.

It is not like we were expecting something out of the box from Rohit but we certainly did not know that he will play this safe, once again. The trailer packs all the typical Rohit Shetty ingredients, be it the packaging, the storyline or even the dialogues. Now, having said that, there is a large section of the audience which thoroughly enjoys this type of cinema and Rohit is well aware of the fact. He has always catered to them, unabashedly and unapologetically. And given that almost all his movies have been blockbusters, we somewhere understand that he does not want to experiment unnecessarily.

Moving on to Ranveer, it is exciting to see him return to the commercial space after playing the menacing Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. Simmba is his first act as a cop and we cannot wait to witness his infectious energy on the big screen. Kudos to him for showcasing such versatility as an actor in a single year. Sara Ali Khan, his love interest in the film, is charming enough to make us want to see more of her. Sonu Sood, as the villain, is equally impressive.

But, the best part about the Simmba trailer is the Singham touch which is both overwhelming and nostalgic at the same time. That entry scene of Ajay Devgn is bound to get the most whistles and claps in the theatres.

Simmba will be the last release of 2018 as it is scheduled to hit the screens on December 28.
